About this piece
Metallic quilted lambskin with a crackled, foiled finish, so the light breaks across the diamond quilting rather than sitting flat on it. Gold hardware on gold leather is a deliberately maximal decision that the small scale keeps in check. An evening piece first, though the finish is more durable than it looks.
Chanel has made the quilted flap and the chain strap into a grammar the whole category borrows from. Pieces hold their value because the codes barely move — the diamond quilting, the interlocking CC, the leather-threaded chain.
